Children’s Rheumatology

The Paediatric Rheumatology department aims to raise standards of clinical care and create better outcomes for children with rheumatic diseases. We provide services and treatments for children and adolescents who suffer with a variety of conditions, including:

  • Juvenile arthritis

  • Juvenile onset lupus

  • Uveitis

  • Mechanical joint pain

  • Hyper mobility syndrome

By controlling disease activity we aim to maintain function and independence, which minimises disability and supports children to achieve their full potential socially, educationally and psychologically.

Most children are seen in the paediatric outpatients’ department. Patients are seen here when they are referred and for reviews of their condition. Our paediatric rheumatologist also holds clinics in Chichester, Salisbury, Winchester, Poole and Worthing.

Children with rheumatic diseases need to be diagnosed promptly and will be referred to a specialist paediatric rheumatology multidisciplinary team who can provide support for the child and their family.

Hampshire Air Ambulance

Ordinary People, Extraordinary Care, Supported by You!

Through your support, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance brings an advanced Critical Care Team to sick and injured people in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight when they need it most.

Available both day and night, 365 days a year, the Air Ambulance Critical Care Team is called out many times a day to attend to road traffic collisions, sporting accidents, collapses and many other incidents. Highly skilled crews of doctors, paramedics and pilots can be at the scene of an incident within minutes, ready to deliver the same level of care that you would expect from a hospital emergency department.

It currently costs £15,000 a day to maintain our life saving service, and it is only thanks to the generosity of the communities that we serve that we are able keep the Air Ambulance flying and saving lives.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance began operations on 1st July 2007 and our helicopter is based at Thruxton Aerodrome, near Andover.

See Gary’s story in NEWS section and read why this service is so important to all of us whilst camping in remote locations. One of the reason we have defibs at all meets to keep you all safe so please support and get involved!
