New Park Farm – A Tranquil New Forest Escape
Tucked within the serene confines of the Roydon Woods Nature Reserve, this campsite offers a peaceful and rustic retreat for those looking to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the New Forest National Park. Just a mile from the charming village of Brockenhurst in Hampshire, it’s an ideal base for walkers, nature lovers, and families seeking a back-to-nature experience with access to nearby attractions and amenities.
Location and Setting
The campsite’s location is one of its greatest assets. Nestled in the heart of Roydon Woods—a protected area managed by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust—it is surrounded by ancient woodland, open glades, and a patchwork of heathland. This rich and tranquil environment is a haven for wildlife, including deer, birds, and butterflies, offering visitors an authentic New Forest experience right from their tent, caravan or campervan.
Despite its wild and natural setting, the site is conveniently situated only a 15-minute walk from the center of Brockenhurst. The picturesque village is home to a variety of local shops, cozy cafes, and traditional pubs, making it easy to stock up on supplies or enjoy a hearty meal after a day of exploring.
There are no electrical hook-ups or shower blocks, making this an excellent choice for those seeking a more traditional, off-grid camping experience. The simplicity of the setup encourages visitors to truly switch off and connect with the natural surroundings.
Walking and Wildlife
The site is exceptionally well-placed for walking and hiking, with numerous trails accessible directly from the camp. Roydon Woods itself offers several scenic footpaths that wind through a mix of woodland, meadows, and quiet glades. Whether you're after a short morning stroll or a longer day hike, you'll be rewarded with peaceful scenery and a high chance of spotting local wildlife.
For more extensive walks, the wider New Forest National Park provides countless routes. Walkers can explore open heathland dotted with New Forest ponies, ancient oak woodlands, and streams winding through fern-filled dells. The forest changes dramatically with the seasons, offering colourful wildflowers in spring, warm autumnal hues later in the year, and a peaceful, timeless atmosphere throughout.
Nearby Attractions and Things to Do
Brockenhurst Village
Just a short walk or cycle away, Brockenhurst offers a lovely blend of old-world charm and modern convenience. It’s one of the most attractive and centrally located villages in the New Forest, and is well known for its relaxed atmosphere and free-roaming ponies and cattle. Local highlights include:

For those looking to enjoy an evening by the campfire, there are also numerous farm shops and delis nearby offering local produce, perfect for a rustic alfresco meal.
Wildlife and Stargazing
Because the campsite is set within a nature reserve and far from urban light pollution, it’s not only a great place for spotting wildlife during the day, but also for stargazing at night. On clear evenings, the skies open up to reveal constellations, satellites, and even the Milky Way on occasion.
Birdwatchers will particularly enjoy the early mornings, when the woods come alive with the sound of songbirds, woodpeckers, and the occasional owl. The area also supports populations of badgers and foxes, and during certain times of the year, you may be lucky enough to see deer grazing nearby.
Conclusion

With its back-to-basics facilities, it’s ideal for campers who value quietude, nature, and simplicity. Its proximity to both Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst means you’re never far from creature comforts, while its setting in Roydon Woods makes it feel a world away from the hustle and bustle.

Offering fantastic views across Southampton Water, Royal Victoria Country Park is a great place to watch the busy shipping coming in and out of Southampton. Once the home of the biggest military hospital in the Victorian Empire this 200-acre site is now ideal for relaxation and leisure.
The park’s ancient woodlands, large open spaces, boardwalks and ponds offer something for everyone. There are a number of picnic areas throughout the site and family BBQ areas can be hired. The Cedar Tearooms serves a wide variety of hot and cold food and children will love taking a ride on the miniature railway or burning off steam in the picturesque play areas. The Heritage Visitor Centre exhibition tells the fascinating history of the site and the important role it played throughout the World Wars. There is an exciting programme of events and activities taking place throughout the year.
